This was the battle for the PLS Wooden Spoon, but as both teams had been involved in close games with the undefeated leaders Cleckheaton, the Adjudicators were hoping for a game of some quality. They were left sorely disappointed.

Only two Adjudicators braved the blizzard conditions, but were rewarded with a thrilling encounter between two much improved teams.

Birkenshaw v Brighouse

Birkenshaw fielded warm, juicy pies with a firm, almost hard crust. The meat was lightly seasoned and not over-salted. They made a strong start, leaving the adjudicators much impressed, and content, despite the inclement weather conditions.

Half-time drinks were taken in Bradford’s own Shoulder Of Mutton, where the old photographs gave cause for some reminiscing and googling.
