Even before the game started, there was plenty to keep the eager crowd buzzing with excitement. Adjudicator JK, who thus far had a 100% adjudication record, failed a late pre-match fitness check. And the new-look Otley started very strongly……..with a nicely glazed, warm pie, a decent meat content, nicely seasoned and well textured, with some still juicy jelly. It was immediately clear the Baildon would need to produce something special, to avoid another defeat.

Baildon were an unknown quantity, represented by an attractively priced cold pie. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very average offering, with little to criticise or praise, though one adjudicator did express some dissatisfaction with the thin layer of meat content.

Half-time drinks were intended to be taken in The Hermit…….but the ridiculously late opening time of 11:30 resulted in the venue …
